Lead from NO: A systematic approach to
leadership negotiation
The word, “negotiation” spurs all different types of mental scenarios.
What about considering “leadership” as a critical type of negotiation?
If you lead people, you negotiate every day. This book dares to claim negotiation and leadership interconnect. Leaders that don’t fear the word “no” gain respect, make connections, and build trust with their teammates.
Lead from No presents a systematic approach to leadership negotiation.
By integrating the Camp System—also referred to as the “no” system of negotiation—into numerous leadership and business scenarios, this book is purposed to help leaders at any level.
Author Jim Camp Jr.’s unique experiences as a senior military leader, combined with his extensive negotiating coaching background, makes a strong case that “leadership negotiation” is the most important form of negotiation.
In this book, you will discover the ability to negotiate serves as a foundation for effective leadership, and the same characteristics that make you a better negotiator will improve your success as a leader.
Lead from No by Jim Camp Jr., is a game-changer for leaders and negotiators alike.
Building on the foundational principles of his father’s work, Jim Camp Jr. has introduced a fresh approach to negotiation, systemizing the hearing and saying of “no” and the power that can be realized from it.
He argues that “no” is not a rejection but a crucial decision point that can lead to better agreements and emotional control.
Jim Camp is a co-owner and coach at Camp Negotiations. Jim’s deceased father, Jim Camp Sr., started the company twenty-five years ago and authored Start with No. Jim, his brother Todd Camp, and their team of coaches help companies avoid unnecessary compromise by implementing the Camp System of negotiation.
In addition to extensive negotiation coaching experience, Jim is a retired major general from the United States Air Force. His thirty-four-year career as a leader in the Air National Guard included numerous combat deployments as a pilot, command assignments, and strategic level leadership positions. In addition to commanding five thousand airmen in the Ohio National Guard, Jim also served as the National Guard’s Advisor to US Transportation Command.
Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and has a master’s degree in organizational leadership. Jim and his wife Cynthia have four children and three grandchildren, and they live in Cape Coral, Florida.
